The Walk to End Alzheimer's!

Family & Friends:

On November 5, 2011 I will be walking in the Walk to End Alzheimer's. As many of you know, I recently lost my Granny to this horrible disease in June. There is so much we DO NOT know about this disease and need to. Please take a few minutes to read some of the info on Alzheimer's below and also please check out my webpage. Just click this link -->  Kacey's Personal Alzheimer's Webpage

Alzheimer’s disease is the single largest unaddressed public health threat facing the nation today. As many as 5.4.million Americans are living with the disease and nearly 11 million are acting as caregivers.

We have to unite now to help end Alzheimer’s. To do my part, I’m participating in the 2011 Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s, an event that raises awareness and funds to advance care, support and research. Donate to support me.

The number of Americans with Alzheimer’s is about to skyrocket. Baby Boomers are approaching the age of 65, placing this generation at a greater risk for developing this devastating disease.

The end of Alzheimer’s starts here – with a gift from you. Please consider supporting my efforts with a donation.

Thank you so much!

Love,
Kacey

Wowzas!!!

Hey Frands!

Wow it sure has been a while since I last blogged! Yikes! I must apologize! When you get behind a week or two those seem to turn into a few more week and a few more before you know it, IT'S OCTOBER and you haven't blogged in MONTHS! LOL

Well fall classes are well under weigh! We are halfway through the semester! Chemistry is GOING GREAT! I thought I was going to struggle with this class but TO MY SURPRISE I HAVE A B IN THIS CLASS RIGHT NOW! I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO excited for that because I NEVER had that in A&P I or II and I didn't have that in Microbiology either! I've gotten an 87 & 87.5 on my first two exams! I have a high B so I am hoping to pull off an A!!! I am also taking Human Development and Hist online. Those are going great also!

Jeff and I are doing great. Abby is doing great! FALL IS HERE IN ALL ITS GLORY so you know what that means....GEORGIA SATURDAYS AND THE GA NATIONAL FAIR!! :) I LOVE LOVE LOVE IT! The temps aren't quiet as awful as they have been- which is a good thing but as always I do miss SUMMER! :D

My 25th birthday was 3 weeks ago tomorrow! We went to NYC! Had a blast and LOVED IT! We didn't get to do EVERYTHING we wanted to do but we DID MOST OF IT! ;) That just means we'll have to GO BACK! Hahahaha! You can see some of those pictures on my blog background! Love LOVE LOVED NYC!

This week we signed away MY VERY FIRST CAR. It was bittersweet! It was time for her to go! We got a 2010 Chevrolet Traverse! We LOVE it! It's MUCH BIGGER AND ROOMIER! And the gas mileage is better than the X-TERRA!! Love it!

We had a great weekend with my family last weekend! We went to Burt's Pumpkin Farm! I seriously have not been there in YEARS! We used to go there in the fall for field trips and I loved it! SO....Mama, Aunt Lynn, Adam, Corban, Cameron, Jeff and myself decided to go last Saturday and we had a blast! I felt like a kid again! We got a GOOD ONE too for CHEAP! I love this time of year! :) Everything in our house smells like FALL! And my car does too! Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin from Bath & Body Works is AH-MAZING!! Love love love it!

A Rough June For This Girl....

Hey Frands,

I'm sorry it's been 3 weeks since I last blogged. That Sunday after I last blogged well I guess it was Monday at this point....because it was after midnight I got the dreaded phone call from my mama saying my sweet Granny had gone home to be with Jesus. That hit me harder than anything ever has. Even though I knew it was only a matter of time it hurt so bad! I'm not sure if some/most of you know but my sweet Granny had Alzheimer's. She had been struggling with it for a few years. These last few months have been so hard for all of us. My Nana brought her home from the assisted living in February to take care of her. I am so glad she did! She got to spend that much needed time with her. She started off with pureed foods and then she couldn't swallow so then she had to start drinking ensure. She was talking some and the last few times I saw her she couldn't talk. Her body just started shutting down! My sweet Granny was as  HEALTHY as she could be!! This disease struck her healthy little body and I HATE IT!! Alzheimer's is absolutely HORRIBLE! And we have NO IDEA where it comes from! When I took Microbiology in the fall we touched on Alzheimer's a little and microbiologist think that it comes from a virus that we have been exposed to sometime in our lives. I really hope this is not the case because think of all the viruses WE come in contact with!!! I was very close with my Granny. I have been very fortunate to have her in my life! She was technically my "Great Grandma" but she nor I ever saw it like that! She was my GRANNY! And my "Grandma" is my NANA! As a matter of fact....when I was little I would often to go her house EVERY OTHER WEEKEND! My mom often joked saying that must be what being divorced was like! Hahahaha! I spent so much time with her and she taught me so many things! I get my LOVE OF BAKING from her! We ALWAYS baked something! EVERY SINGLE TIME! Whether it was cookies, cupcakes, brownies or our endless TRIALS of TRYING TO MAKE FUDGE or OUR FAVORITE -- POUND CAKE! We would ALWAYS use her green Kitchen Aid mixer and I LOVED THAT MIXER! I loved it so much that I wanted one--- While I WAS STILL IN HIGH SCHOOL! Hahaha! So when Jeff and I got married that was our present from her! A RED Kitchen Aid mixer that I cherish with ALL my heart! I have so many memories of the things we used to do but one of the ones that stick out the most was the night I was saved! I accepted the Lord with my GRANNY and we both cried! That memory I will never forget! I am blessed to have had her as my Granny and to have had her in my life for 24 years! It breaks my heart to know that my children won't get the opportunity to make those memories or know her like I did! I know I can tell them the stories and I most certainly will but it's just not the same when you don't make those memories yourself! :( I know she is in a BETTER place with a BRAND NEW body and enjoying her time with all her family and Papa! I know the Lord is taking THE VERY BEST care of her! I can't wait to see that SMILE THAT LIGHTS UP EVERY ROOM again!

My uncle Bobby (Dad's brother) is not doing good either! He has been in the hospital since May. He has cancer and this week they told the family that they aren't expecting him to make it much longer. This is my Dad's older brother and Dad is taking this really hard! Which who wouldn't? He's suppose to live a little longer! He's only 60 years old! This is another disease that STRIKES with a VENGEANCE! These diseases SUCK! Why can't we find a CURE for this stuff???? You would think after all these years we would be CURING it instead of still trying to FIND THE CURE! I just don't get it....I guess I never will....Please keep our family in your prayers! I know my cousins are out of their minds right now and they are so sad! I can't imagine being in their shoes right now and just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes! :(

On top of all that...my little brother had an allergic reaction to SOMETHING and had to go to the ER 2 Sundays ago! He is fine now but it was very scary! He had these HUGE bites or stings all over him and it was horrible! He is going to the allergist to try and figure out what caused this! So last week I was at home with him! This week was the first week I have BEEN AT HOME ALL WEEK! :) I enjoyed being with my family these last few weeks but I missed Jeff and Abby so much too! It really stinks when you live away from your family!

June has been a rough month! I am ready to see it go and hopefully JULY will bring some sort of HAPPY JOYFUL NEWS! Something to SMILE ABOUT! Lord knows I really need it!

Since all this has taken place...I haven't been doing Weight Watchers! Being at home I can't really do it and track my points without internet and with it being so stressful that was the last thing on my mind! I am very sad to say that I haven't lost anything this WHOLE MONTH...BUT I HAVEN'T GAINED ANY EITHER! I have stayed the same! Starting tomorrow I am GETTING BACK ON THE WW TRAIN and WILL FINISH LOSING THE REST OF THIS WEIGHT! 32 lbs!!!!! I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!! :)

Well I need to wrap this up! Until next week....

A Wonferful & Very Romantic 5 Year Anniversary!

Hey Frands!

As you all know Jeff and My 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY was last Friday! Well he SURPRISED me! We left Friday morning about 11 AM and headed for Savannah! After we checked in the hotel we headed to Tybee to chillax at the beach but not before stopping at Lady & Son's to reserve our table for dinner! Here is a picture of him doing that! It was raining inland on our way to Tybee! We were hoping it would stay away!

We got our reservations! 9PM! Whew! But we didn't care!! We were so excited to be eating there!!! We get to Tybee and the SUN was still out but clouds were quickly starting to take over but we didn't care about that either! This is what it looked like when we got there!

We got our chairs and set up shop! It was very nice! There was a nice breeze and it was very calm and relaxing! We both got in and the water was GREAT! We were there about 2 hours and that seemed like the quickest 2 hours of our life! People had left there was only a few people left on the beach a little family from Dallas, Texas beside us! We had a very FABULOUS time!! It was definitely the quietest we had ever seen Tybee and we enjoyed it!!! Here are a few pictures from Tybee: ENJOY!

Well it started to really rain so we decided to leave! That was the fastest 2 HOURS EVER! But even though it was only 2 hours we HAD A FABULOUS TIME! When we left this is what it looked like!

Well at this point we WANTED some ice cream and since there ARE TONS of ice cream places on every corner on Tybee! So we found a place! THAT HAD SNOW CONES! SO I GOT ONE!!! AND JEFF GOT SOME CHOCOLATE ICE CREAM!! I FELT LIKE A KID AGAIN!! I got my favorite! Blue Raspberry!!! This is what it looked like!!!

So of course the sun started shining on the way back to Savannah! So we went back to the hotel and chilled out a bit before we got ready for dinner!

Well we then got ready for our LOVELY EVENING at Lady & Son's!! We walked there and back! Downtown Savannah at night is BEAUTIFUL! The atmosphere is SO ROMANTIC! We LOVED it!! The walk was .5 mile there and .5 mile back!! It was so FUN! When we got there of course we had to take pictures! We got there like at 8:30 so 30 minutes early and the sign said they were BOOKED FOR THE EVENING!! I was like THANK THE LORD WE GOT RESERVATIONS!! So the hostess told us to look around the gift shop and we would be called in a bit. Well we no more than got in there and didn't even get to look around they said J. Cox! We were like WOOHOO!!! Look who we saw!! PAULA!! We had no idea that this place was 3 floors! We were on the 3 floor!! We felt very important!! Hahaha!! We decided to eat the buffet!! IT WAS OH-MAZING! Here are some more pix! I got "Not Yo' Mama's Banana Pudding" and Jeff got her "Gooey Buttercake"! He couldn't eat a lot of it because it was so SWEET! Hahahaha

AS YOU CAN SEE THIS FOOD WAS OH-MAZING AND VERY DELISH! Don't ask me how many WEIGHT WATCHERS POINTS BECAUSE I HAVE NO IDEA! And I obviously wasn't COUNTING them that day! Hahahaha :)

After dinner we walked back to the hotel in the lovely river breeze! We have decided we are definitely going back and most likely in July! There was so much more we wanted to do! We had such a wonderful time and it was a VERY VERY GOOD 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY!

Saturday we got up and got ready and headed to one of MY favorite parks to take some pictures (Mom wanted some pictures of the trees and that is just my favorite spot!) I could spend all day in that park! People were laying down...having picnics....running etc! It is just a BEAUTIFUL place! I wish Macon was like that!! Where you could do all that and FEEL SAFE! Here are some of the pix we took there...

We went to Savannah a few years ago with Jeff's family and stayed in Midtown off ABERCORN and got LOST SO MANY TIMES and got a BAD taste in our mouths about it! We even walked away then SAYING WE HATED IT!! Hahahaha Well every time we go to Tybee - you have to go to Savannah to get there! And we always see Abercorn and we are like AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! Abercorn is EVERYWHERE!! So we always joke about it....well this time we saw it a lot and took pix!! Hahaha

WE HAD A FABULOUS 5 YEAR! This is the first time we have been able to go anywhere for our anniversary since our 1st year! This is by far one of THE BEST IF NOT THE BEST! We enjoyed our 1st year but this MEANT A WHOLE LOT MORE FOR SOME REASON! :) We had so much FUN!!

THANK YOU SO MUCH JEFFREY ALLEN FOR DOING THAT!! I LOVE YOU SO MUCH! YOU ARE THE BEST HUSBAND A GIRL COULD EVER ASK FOR! I AM SO THANKFUL TO HAVE YOU IN MY LIFE AND BY MY SIDE EVERY DAY! I LOVE YOU!
